We are a small Bee Farm on the edge of Ogston Reservoir near Chesterfield, Derbyshire. With many years prior experience as hobby bee keepers, we are now sustaining our apiaries by rearing queens from our own local stock. Devon - Nearly Home Honey
Our bees are kept in our Higher Kellacott apiary and other locations in West Devon and Dartmoor. They are a strain of Honey Bee (Apis Millifera) known as the Buckfast Bee, which was developed by Brother Adam, a Benedictine Monk at the Buckfast Abbey in Devon who was a Beekeeper for over 70 years. The Buckfast Bee is extremely gentle and highly productive.
We supply honey bee starter nucs from May onwards for anyone who wants to start beekeeping or increase existing colonies.

In 2015, whilst working the day job, my boss caught an interest in the jar of Chilean Rainforest honey on my desk, with its 40+ rating. Our nucs contain a young queen, workers of all ages and brood of all ages plus sufficient food to last it for a week or two of poor weather although usually you'll be transferring it to a larger hive in any case. The nucs that we sell have 5 or 6 frames which have brood and stores and can develop into a full sized colony before winter if it's early enough in the season.
The queens are our own and not imported and they have been laying for at least 3 weeks in summer and usually will have been in the colony since mating.
